Can you believe this weekend is Labor Day? The holiday originated back in the late 1800s as a “workingmen’s holiday” for many of the industrial workers who struggled to have time off in conjunction with otherwise harsh working conditions. Congress legalized the holiday in 1894 to be celebrated on the first Monday of each September. Today the holiday marks an unofficial end to the summer when kids return to school and football reappears on the fields. If you’re searching for something to do for Labor Day 2022 near Eagle Point, check out a few of these 2022 events:
- Watch a play! The Collaborative Theatre Project presents plays throughout the year. Over Labor Day weekend, you could catch their current performance, “Ada and the Engine,” directed by Michael Jenkinson.
- Head to the races! Take the family to Southern Oregon Motorsports for a night at the races. On September 4, you can watch the cars race for the trophy cup in the Ironhead Sprint Spectacular in White City.
- Get out into nature! Enjoy some sunshine and fresh air with a hike at Table Rocks. There are two beautiful hiking trails perfect for beginning and intermediate hikers. Table Rock Trails is located off Interstate 5, Exit 33 at Central Point.
- Navigate the river! Rogue Rafting Company in Gold Hill will take you and your friends on a river-rafting adventure of a lifetime. The Rogue River flows 155 miles from the Cascade Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. You’ll never get a closer view of it.
