One of the best things about booking a golf vacation at the Resort at Eagle Point is that there are so many other amazing activities to participate in while you’re enjoying your stay in Southern Oregon. Spend several days golfing to your heart’s content at the Eagle Point Golf Club, while reserving a few days for you and your family to explore other attractions in the area. Our staff enjoys helping our guests plan extended stays at the Resort, including coordinating the perfect golf and skiing getaway with visits to nearby Mt. Ashland.
What’s special about Mt. Ashland?
Mt. Ashland is the tallest mountain in Oregon west of the Cascade Range’s chain of volcanic mountains. It’s 7,532 feet high and located six miles west of the Siskiyou Pass. Onlookers from the north see Mt. Ashland clearly from many places in the Rogue River Valley, and the mountain serves as a beautiful backdrop to the nearby city of Ashland. Those viewing it from the south see it as a higher point along the full Siskiyou Crest.
Today, the recreation center on Mt. Ashland features a variety of trails for downhill skiing and snowboarding. With an average snowfall of 265 inches each year, the facility operates 44 ski runs over 240 acres of skiable terrain. Those brave enough to venture the highest runs can experience a drop of 1,150 vertical feet. Runs are available for beginners to the most advanced skiers, so everyone will have an enjoyable experience regardless of their skill level.
When is ski season at Mt. Ashland?
As with any ski resort, the opening and closing dates are dependent on the weather. However, ski season at Mt. Ashland normally runs from mid-December through April. Now is a perfect time to start planning your golf and skiing getaway.
Do you need to haul all of your ski equipment with you to visit Mt. Ashland?
No. The team at Mt. Ashland has almost everything you need for a fun-filled day on the mountain. You can rent boots, skis, or a full package. The only items they do not have available for rental are clothing and goggles, although you can purchase goggles in their equipment shop.
